...and one that matters more than most.
Research finds the happiest US States match a million Americans’ own happiness states

Whether you agree with it is purely individual, but at least it's something to be proud of.

It's all about going green and most of those states in the top ten are in the south.

I agree, bluebeard...sure is funny to read about it in the other threads, where folks from other states are gnashing their teeth over it. LOL!

The top 10 happiest states also often top the lists of the most obese states.

Reckon there's any correlation between being warm, able to eat and being happy?

That's me--warm, fat and happy.

I'm new to Alabama and like it very much. Great people, meat eaters...salt o' the earth and I got way more house than I could afford in Illinois which I moved away from (thank the Lord). Property taxes less than 600 a year? Unheard of.
That said, if 'Bama people would just discover Espresso stands, you could be in the top 2. Sweet tea? Too close to British for me

We don't need espresso because it would interfere with our laid back nature.

Sweet tea "too close to British?" Aw hon, you haven't even tasted it. It's nothing like British tea.

Tried grits and greens yet?

Glad to have ya in Alabama!

I love the greens although I tend to find them a bit overcooked here. I cook em a different style than the southern style, but I love the vegetable.
I also like grits. I make em at home with milk instead of water and, maybe with some cheese and/or egg, but always with a large dose of hot sauce.

I've never made them with milk; I'll have to try it. I do adore garlic cheese grits...I also recently had a fantastic "grit cake" at a black-tie dinner. I could tell it was cooked with a little onion and possibly some kind of white cheese, cut into a wedge and probably fried. I've got to get the recipe.

I've had grits served for supper...mmmmm...a nice change from rice or potatoes.
