I ended up going to Albuquerque but after a year there, reevaulated and happily settled in Murfreesboro TN.

Wasn't Murfreesboro the site of the mosque being attacked or firebombed or something? We haven't had that happen in Tuscaloosa, nor any other part of Alabama, as far as I know.

Of all the "I am a ____, will I fit in with the _____ type people," I have never seen one that the answer wasn't "Yes, you'll do fine." After all, these threads aren't about persecution, but whether the _____ type people will be your pals.

You'll do fine. Heck, "Midwest Liberal" might be conservative by Tuscaloosa standards.

No, the local Muslims wanted to build a new mosque, and some of the non-Muslim locals became hysterical and tried to stop it. I believe a front-end loader was set on fire. I don't know where the situation stands now.

God bless,

CKB

Being a somewhat conservative person living in Tuscalosoa I can tell you that you would fit in just fine. Tuscaloosa its self is very liberal. You can check out some of the local conversations on the forums on the Tuscaloosa News website.
