It's snowing in AK? Awesome! It snowed for 2 hours here in northern PA earlier. And then it turned to rain. I've just stuffed myself with ham and mashed spuds. Bad thing is I have to work all night. Going to be tough staying awake come midnight.

It stopped raining a couple of days ago, and then started snowing yesterday, but not too much of it is falling. I imagine that we well get around 2" of snow over the ice on the roads (in the interior). The roads are still icy, but a lot better than Monday and Tuesday when they had a sheet of clear ice from the rain. I drove to North Pole today, and kept the speed around 45 MPH, but got passed along the way by others who had studded tires and chains. I still have all-weather tikes on my Sidekick 4x4 (my wife's former car), but plan to swap them with a set of snow tires I have in the shed. These have softer rubber, which improves traction, but not as much as studs.

The rain pretty much stopped traffic for a couple of days in the interior. The ground was cold, so the rain was just freezing solid when falling on the ground. There were car-pileups and automobiles stuck all over the place. Then Wednesday the ice began turning into slush, and by thursday it got cold again. While the main roads aren't too bad, some are quite bumpy because of the icy spots on them.
