Hello guys, i am looking to move to Alaska in August and I have been searching diligently for a town that would suit me. Ive looked at a lot of towns but i find that the best way to learn it by recieving feedback from Alaskans. Money is not an object in my path (as long as i dont have to pay something like 5K a month for just myself).
Basically what im looking for is a town that is under 20K in population, VERY low tempatures (like -15 in the winter) and a lot of snow that lasts all season, friendly people who like to get to know each other, and DEFINATLY has to have the Alaskan surrounding with the trees and rivers and hills with places to hunt. As far as the town goes, as long as its not a bunch of factories and has a decent place for coffee and to stock up on food.
Talkeetna, Willow, Nenana, Delta, Glennallen, Tok, Healy, Cantwell. Those are on the road system. If you are willing to get off the road system, Galena, Bettles, McGrath, Aniak, etc.

Check out Talkeetna. You might like Palmer as well.
Oh yes. First winter I spent there it was below -40 for a couple of weeks.
