interesting pictures... since I am from Wisconsin... can you explain the ship being worked on or is that that like a lock and dam? We have a lock and dam on the Mississippi but it doesn't look anything like the picture... hey what do I know ... (heck blame it on to much cheese please lol)

The picture is of the Kennicot in a floating drydock which might be in Ketchikan. I saw it a couple of years ago with another AMHS vessel in it. The Kennicot is a ferry that carrys quite a number of cars and trucks in the lower portion.

That is the dry dock in Ketchikan.

pretty impressive. the vessels are pretty aged at least the Malaspina is showing it's age.....leaks in the windows and plenty of rust but she's a pretty girl to me.

Default Susitna

I see the Susitna is still at Ketchikan. That is the ferry that is supposed to be running between Point Mackenzie and Anchorage...but Anchorage has no place for it to dock. And they don't want one either.

Thank you all... the more I learn the more I am in fascination. I am hoping on a trip to Alaska this coming May... so taking a lot of notes and getting plenty of ideas where to visit. I will have 3 weeks ... so little time so many great places
