My boyfriend and I are moving to the Anchorage/Eagle River area this summer and have been looking at various rental places (apartments, townhomes, and houses). We're looking for a 2 bedroom for $1500 or less a month. We're planning on only renting for the first year, and buying a home after we learn where exactly is a good neighborhood and what not.

We've seen the website for Timber Ridge Apartments, which seems to be nice considering we'll be bringing an 85lb. chocolate lab with us. We've been looking on craigslist as well, and $1315 for 880 sq. feet just seems high for what we've seen. Does anyone have any input on these apartment homes?

Are there any areas of Eagle River we should stay away from? We're going to be working in Anchorage, but we don't want to live in downtown Anchorage. Are there any other apartment complexes that you could recommend? Town homes? Even rental homes? We've even contacted a few realtors, but no one seems interested in helping us because we aren't planning on actually purchasing a home yet.

Thanks for your time!

Sounds rather short sighted of the realtors... I know several realtors around here that would JUMP for someone willing to rent a place. More places for rent or sale then there are buyers. I guess that isn't the case in AK...

Default Rentals in Eagle River

I'm a Realtor...but I don't do any property management either. You need to find a property manager in Eagle River...they will certainly help you.

Call these companies and ask to talk to a property manager.

Someone like me that primarily deals in residential sales really doesn't know what is available for rent. There is no centralized place to find rentals in Alaska.

Some of the property managers put their rentals on the MLS system but most do not.

So look on craigslist and talk to property managers is your best bet.
