Saint Marys? (Anchorage, Bethel: school, retirement, deal)

Hey all,

Just curious if anyone knows if something big happened at Saint Mary's this year? I see that there are postings up for 7 teaching positions already, which means 7 out of 12 teachers in their school have resigned. It's way early for having positions posted. I was up there last year and their superintendent told me they usually had very low turnover.

So it seems strange. I have some friends thinking about applying there, wanted to give them a heads up if there was a reason to avoid doing that. Seemed like a cool place to me.

i'd guess it has to do with administration. there must have been some serious conflict there between the teachers and the bosses.

i was thinking it might have been government-mandated restructuring, but it looks to me like their test scores were pretty good this past year, and they met AYP.

How about looking around on facebook and see if you can find any of them to ask? Certainly does sound strange.

thanks again for the awesome idea.. I found someone. Turns out it was just normal events causing people to leave.. births, retirement, marriages... just coincidence that all this is happening to so many teachers in the same year.

it's always a bummer when some big deal will cause mass turnover. it's very hard on the students, that's for sure...

KSM would work for fishing, you have the Andreafski River. Salmon and grayling in the river there.
