You did! This one would be hard to get to, wouldn't he? I don't make house calls.

Poor Melbern hasn't been seen much around this forum since she won the auction. I hope we didn't scare her off.

Soooo... living in the bush, I don't think I could do it, at least not right away. I love the wilderness, but I also love being able to go back to my house with running water, heat, internet, and electricity. Now, I know you can have those things in the bush, but you get what I'm saying. I like the way Frostnip is set up: on the road system, but way back in the woods, so it's remote but you can still drive to town if you need to. I hate big cities, but I got nothing against towns, so I would definitely need to be able to get to town when I needed to without buying a bunch of av-gas. I should have my own pilot's license before too terribly long (shooting for the next 10 years with instrument rating), but actually fueling and flying a plane is very expensive, especially if you don't own one. And I can't afford a plane at this point in my life.

Question for you guys though: if I were to do what Frostnip has done and get set up on the road system but in a remote house, how do you go about doing that, and what kind of prices am I looking at? I know I would need to buy land and then either build a house or bring a pre-fab house to the land, so total cost with land and house, what should I expect to pay? Also, keep in mind that I will be working, so I need to be able to get to work in a decent amount of time. Lately I have been focusing my job search on Southcentral because the climate there appeals to me, so that would be the area I would be looking at. I would like to be either in the Mat-Su Valley or on the Peninsula, or if I happened to find a job, Valdez. So what do you guys think? You are the ones with the knowledge.
