Being as how our moderator here thinks there should be more flowery and fluffy posts here so we won't scare the visitors too much I will give it a shot.

A few years ago some idjit let loose a couple of rabbits around here and now the damned things are thick as flies. The next time one comes hopping down the road I'll see if I can get a pic. for Rance if the dogs don't get to it first.

Another idjit had some tame doves and they got loose and bred like fruit flies and they synchronize their cooing which is really loud and constant. Will get pictures of them when it stops raining.

A few days ago a little hummingbird was outside my window hovering there, attracted by the blooms on a cactus. It was a very peaceful scene but as I sat here watching it, a huge raven swooped down and grabbed it and flew away. Then another raven started fighting the first raven for it when they were flying, and the little hummingbird was dropped and the second raven swooped and got it and flew away. I didn't get a picture but I do have a picture of the flowering cactus:

How the heck do you get your Christmas Cactus to bloom? I've had mine nearly 10 years and I've had one flower finally last year!
Bummer story about the hummingbird. You'd think they could outfly a raven.

Mine only blooms when it gets a lot of natural sunlight.

Rance, the raven came right up behind the little hummingbird while it was preoccupied with the flowers.

Not sure how they happened to bloom; I was gone all winter and when I got back in April they were blooming.

Here is a picture of a roll fresh from the oven.

Warpt, I am making donuts next week which will put that Krispy Creme place in the dust.

I think that's the key; this one has been sitting in this window for quite awhile now. When I had it in the laundry room it didn't do so well; not much light there.

They do well in cool parts of the home, somewhat neglected. Yours is lovely, Met! As were your little animal stories. Those doves might do well in a stewpot.

Hey those rolls look just like my overnight buns! So good you can eat them plain with nothing on them.

Other than some of the petty bickering, I loved the no holds barred, brutal honest advice and opinions I received from members of this board.

It allowed me to really prepare mentally, physically, and emotionally for what I was getting into. That allowed me to walk into my new life with my eyes wide open.

Con men blow sunshine up your butt. Real friends give you the honest truth and then help you deal with it.
