I have been to the SE and it seems to be about the same as the Seattle area. Are there any areas along the Alaskan coast that are sunny for the better part of the year?

Yes, at times when it's not cloudy, overcast, foggy or raining in Ketchikan it's very sunny.

I'd say Homer has about the best weather for a coastal Alaska town

Would you consider Homer better than Kenai? It seems Kenai gets slightly warmer summers (although colder winters) and less annual precipitation. Although I haven't see any data on either for average cloud cover.

Southcentral in general has better weather than SE. But I don't think it's sunny for the better part of the year there.

there's this handy website called city-data.com that has profiles for all different kinds of cities. for most cities, it has detailed weather information including statistics on average cloud cover per year, as shown by this (for the city of homer):


you can even compare between cities by looking at other statistics, such as those of ketchikan:
