I just read that Discovery has announced a new reality show that will air sometime this summer. It's called Mountain Men of Alaska, and it will feature the Kilcher family and their community (Atz Kilcher is apparently singer Jewel's father) who live outside of Homer, and also someone who goes by the name of 'Brother Roadkill'.....I am curious what you all think of these reality shows. There are so many!

I don't watch any of them. It's so dramatic made for tv and half of them are crap.

I wouldn't mind seeing a reality show on Met processing fish tho. Dealing with fishermen, employees, bears, Captain Crunch, Troopers/Fish and Game/FBI undercover brothers trying to buy/sell halibut, island life, baking bread and planting flowers. Has the makings of a really good show!

Actually after reading many of Met's posts...I would watch a reality show about her!! She's great. You're right, many of the shows are very dramatic and seem staged. (Although I will admit that I watch Deadliest Catch religiously...don't judge me ).

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but who is Captain Crunch? Obviously u aren't talking about the cereal.

I don't watch reality shows either. Overly dramatic and not real.

I have two of Atz and Nedra Kiltcher's first albums. I enjoyed them way back in the day and just got them out again about a month ago...but my phonograph died on me while I was listening to them. I'll have to see if I can get a cheap one on craigslist.

OMG, enough all ready!

I catch that Mounted in Alaska occasionally in passing from one channel to another and I tell you that show is awful! It makes them look incredibly stoopid! It makes Alaskans look stoopid.

(yes, spelled wrong for effect)

Alaska has a hold in TV viewers though. It's sad what they must think of us now.

I think I've seen most if not all the older deadly catch shows. Have not seen any of the newer ones yet and don't know if I will. I couldn't stand the gold miners, the show about the pilots seemed to lame to me, watching a dramatic taxidermy show just seems like a waste of time, the show on Palin...I'd rather watch paint dry, I did watch one survival show and will never get that 30 minutes of wasted life back!

I do however watch, Alaska State Troopers! Mostly because I expect to see Captain Crunch on there!
