I am considering moving to Seward. My husband works from home and requires good reliable internet service. Can you provide me with any information regarding speeds experienced, connectivity issues, down time, power outages, service issues, limitations, ... Thank you in advance!

I would try regular phone line with AT&T DSL. When in Skagway back in 2009 APT Alaska was charging for downloading stuff however good company. AP&T - About

I live 7 miles north of Seward, and have a cable modem rated at 500kb/s. Faster speeds are available if you want to pay for them, but I'm happy with it...it's "good enough". There are a couple of providers here to choose from. DSL is available in the city and immediate area. I seldom have a problem with connectivity issues, unless it's my own fault with the equipment in my house. Down time and power outages are common in the winter months due to severe weather from time to time, but you'll find that anywhere in Alaska, not just Seward. I have not had any problem with service issues. For those living too far from the cable grid or phone lines one can always go with Hughes Net satellite internet. (common in the villages or with off-grid locations)
All in all, I have no real complaints about the internet service in Seward...it's not a problem.

APT has good wi fi account system. Pay 24 hour period. APT has wi fi in some of the south east Alaska towns cities. You set up a wi fi account on the web site when your in town or city. It works right away with the computer's wi fi system.
