I am developing a plan to live in Barrow, AK when the time comes for me to retire, which is not so far.
I am happy to hear any comments and advise from local voice.
Thanks.

I love living in the Arctic because of the peace & quiet.

The smaller villages are much nicer in my opinion.

No crowds, no lines to stand in for all practical purposes.

A very simple lifestyle that is totally away from the rat race of normal city life in other states.

That is just my honest opinion; Oh sure there are social issues as with every other place on the face of the earth.

Your best bet is to get information from other sources.

I am going to join the others and sit this one out!! and watch!!

Thanks.
I lived at the area of Denali National Park. It took 12 days to drive from state of Florida. I drove from Denali NP to ColdFoot north of Fairbanks on day's off from work and it took eight hours each way. prudhoe bay oil fields up same Dalton Highway is another 8 to 12 hour drive. With this regards. I think Barrow is very far high on top of state of Alaska. I think yes Barrow would be a good experience for someone to retire. One can always fly back to Fairbanks.
