After the 'bridge to nowhere' fiasco, and now Uncle Ted's corruption scandal, there is a feeling in DC that Alaska shouldn't be trusted - or doesn't deserve - any more big federal projects.

Bloomber News article

Did Ted and Don's greed screw Alaska for the next several budget cycles?

Well until all investigation is complete...I'm not accusing anyone of anything. Or making any assumptions.

Probably so but he's as entitled to due process as anyone.

I have family very close to the Sea Life Center in Seward, they told me to watch out for the case on that one. I see all these folks getting richer with dirty money it seems and now the the Mayor being involved is icing on the cake.

I hate the idea of loosing our clout in DC but at the same time I hate having crooks represent us. I often wonder if Ben wasn't such a jerk and felt that he was above the law if this would have all came down and tying his father into his corruption. I myself hope that they spend some time behind bars if they are found guilty and that they have to pay a huge amount back to the people of Alaska.

I also feel that Ted will not live long enough to see the end of all this, this has to be very stressfull on him at his age. But if he does live long enough and doesn't suffer from a heart attack due to the stress and is found guilty will be a shame to end his career behind bars but would also be appropriete.

I did vote for him and understand the need to have long time people to represent us but maybe they have become to comfortable in their position.

Let's not forget the way Don Young has become a living symbol of 'pork and waste' in Washington. His public comments have only served to enrage people. He is way too blunt. An effective politician in this climate needs to have a careful touch, or else the state will lose out.

Well you are right Don is blunt, and you should not flip off a person on camera. Ever take a look at the walls of their offices, I think they need to re-evaluate themselves. I think that it would be correct to remove them from chairmanships until this is over, just to protect Alaska from all this negative publicity they brought on.

Is it basically a non-issue now with Lisa Murkowski being appointed by her father? Because that seemed to be a hot button issue back when Frank appointed her.

Yah does seem that Alaska has been in the negative spotlight for some time now, but heck we do have the prettiest Governor in the United States now. I guess she is a security nightmare but I like her back to basic idea. She is making an effort to stick by her platform more than we can say about the other politicians.
