especially in Alaska. We're #1 and it's not a good #1. What the hell do they do to require that much money?! One thing for sure, don't retire here.

Pat, aren't the Pioneer Homes supposed to be all right? I figure that's where I'm going after salmon season.

I quess it is but you have to be a veteran to go there. I know because I checked for my MIL for when her time comes.

Maybe they give veteran preference or something but according to their site you don't have to be a veteran to go there. It does say you need to have some form of assistance for everyday living and it's not even halfway into the season and I'm already there. So I'm sure the Pioneer Home will take me. If not I'll just open a daycare center because after this season's crew I certainly will have enough experience.

Well I had my MIL to a new doctor this week. He asked me 3 times about her end of life plans..he had to explain to me ..... do we want her recuscitated should she ever stop breathing....they're all alike,,,if your old and sick - or no matter what age and you have a chronic illness, you are a burden. He even said to me you have to consider the cost and condition person is in. Needless to say I was shocked.

Alot of elderly people have worked and paid their debt to society, and if they didn't that's ok, and what about the young child with terminal cancer? They deserve every chance they can get. It is sad where they are going with this.

Both of my parents have signed statements to the effect that they don't want to be kept going on life support should it ever come to that.

Met...you need to gather the crew together sometime and get a 'team picture' and then post it here.
