Adding detail step by step.

Detailing the hands & fingers is coming up next. This is amazing workmanship!

I was very impressed when I saw these images. As I said earlier. This is only about the 4th or 5th one of these Mark has ever attempted.

The final images of this carving:

Time to polish this to a brilliant shine.

For a final detail added to this carving are the 'hand rings' with feathers to simulate the ones used when dancing.

These tiny rings are gripped by the hand and easily removed.

Next project: coming soon!!

Thanks for the comments Jebatu

I don't understand why he made this so tiny.

Personally I think he is nuts for even attempting something so small.

But; - .. .. he is the artist.

The pot cannot say to the potter.. "why? did you make me this way.

Default A very tiny Umiaq chasing a bowhead Ivory whale

I simply cannot believe what I am seeing here with this tiny object in a piece of ivory.

What an imagination!! When Mark first told me he was going to "create" this. I said to my self - ambitious wishful thinking - I simply did not think this was possible.

Well I am happy to say - this amazing carving - step by step is coming to be something people will be talking about.

I have a photo coming up soon with "ruler" beside it to show how tiny this umiaq is.
