building is general is going to be priced out of most people financial range especially for those who do not have the cash resources. It is 25% cash up front of the asking mortgage price for a construction loan by Alaska banks. I feel for the young people who have not and probably will not in many many have the equitable cash for years. if ever for that matter to build their own home.
personally it is an issue of a regulation that I feel that no level of government has the right to mandate....kinda like passing a law of no wood/coal/gas stoves/smoking/lighting of candles, use of welders, torches...I could go on and on...as they all are fire hazards, so lets prevent a fire and not need a sprinkler system...it is nonsense that has someones wallet as best interest....do I want to live in an area that supports the mandating of things like this is more the issue.

I am with you on this issue. Hopefully the voters at the Kenai Peninsula will get rid of the stupid politicians that are trying to pass such a regulation.

I meant 'you.' I agree with you that its too much govt butting in where they have no business...or possibly big kickbacks.

Well do you want to live in an area supporting that mandate? Is it me or is Alaska becoming too much like the lower 48 in some aspects?

As it has not passed as far as I can find we still plan on building on the Kenai Penn...we will register to vote to attempt to stop some of this kind of nonsense....although I can find nothing about the -48's mandating sprinklers in new built homes I do agree that many other things are way too much like the -48's!

If people want to live with all that regulation BS, they would just move to Kalifornia. Seems the -48 west coast politics and regulations are making there way to Alaska.
