Fabulous photo's and great info on shooting pic's. I am in the research mode for a digital SLR camera for Alaska. Looking to spend between $800 and $1000 for a set up of body and lens. The first 2 items of purchase will be the camera body and a great telephoto lens purchase with extender.
What do you use or what would you buy for this price range?? I am not a novice photographer but certainly not a professional either. thanks

That kinda money doesn't get ya much...

Nikon D90 body only...new offering from Nikon with video

Nikon D200 body only...

Sony A700 body only....great camera, Sony is on top of their game with DSLR...next step up is the A900 but its spendy

Canon XTi and kit lens....these are good also

Canon 40D with kit lens.....ask Warpt about this one

I paid $1200 for my 40D with a 28-135mm zoom. I love this camera!

Thanks for the pic of the power plant in Kwethluk, Jo-Jo. A guy by the name of Wayne Grediagin goes out there to take care of most of their tougher problems. The power plant operators in Kwethluk are real good at taking care of most of their stuff.

Yeah and it's not much more than the 80-400mm. Hmmmm...
