I've only driven up there once and that was last September. I'd like to do it again next year around the same time.

Yes, the Rainbow Maintains are that area. That's the Delta River by one of the Alyaska steel bridges. I spend a lot of time around there during the summer.
When i lived up there in the late 60s early 70s at Ft greeley, we would drive down there. The first Trout I ever caught was in Paxson Lake. A bit farther south there was a campground along the gulkana we went to snag salmon.
I think there is a hidden lake between the highway and the mountains?
