Will a camera with only a 4 second exposer be able to capture any northern lights? Were going to fairbanks at the first of march for the world ice carving and hopefully see some northern lights.

Is there any aperture control allowing you to change aperture settings? If the lights are bright enough you might be able to. Especially if you can go to a larger aperature setting (or smaller F/number) like F/1.8 vs F/5.6.
4 seconds will be pushing it...10 would be better. But it might be done if you get to see some bright ones.

These are absolutely STUNNING. My question is this, how does anyone get any work done in Alaska? All I want to do when I'm there is stand gaping with my mouth open totally in awe staring at the mind blowing beauty.

Default Richardson Highway

Woke up to crystal clear skies and reasonable driving temperatures, so I headed down the Richardson.

Pics from a drive out the Glenn Hwy headed east.......went as far as Sheep Mountain around mile 117 then started hitting icy road and frost heaves.......

Lion's head - apparently an old volcano root.......

The best pic I could muster of the Matanuska Glacier considering it was cold and windy........Brrrrrrrr

I've been waiting for these Dawn.
Really like the glacier pic.

I need to get out that way again, it's such a wonderful drive.

Thanks Ed! I thought I had a lot of early daylight, but it's amazing how many shots I took are dark. Alaska strikes again
