Rance how many wells do those platforms control?

Each leg has up to 13 wells. Some are injection/waterflood wells and some are oil production wells. The Steelhead Platform is much bigger than the rest and may have more wells per leg. The MonoPod Platform stands on one big leg. I've never worked on that one either, and I don't know how many wells it has.

I've seen Beluga Whales a time or two out there.

A waterflood well is a water injection well. They force water into formations, and push oil through the formation to the production well.

thanks for the explanation of a waterflood well Rance! where did you take the photo's of the rigs from??? can they be seen this well from shore??? If so I look forward to seeing them this summer!

You can see most from the north Kenai area, although not as close.

Spent the day out on the lake yesterday. Looking east up the lake from my beach.
