From the Akweathercams Kipnuk cam, a Caravan ran off the runway this afternoon.

Moments after it ran off, smoke out the engine.

Village to the rescue..

Company plane on the evening run.

Thank you for posting that information Warpt.

The pictures gave me a bit of a start... I can't recognize anyone, but half of them necessarily are family.

I'm sure your family has better pictures of it...

Tigre and Nephler beautiful shots as usual.

Warpt those web-shots are so clear. Glad no one was injured and great to see that
the town turns out when something like this occurs.

Tigre... no words to describe that kind of beauty. You are SOOO lucky to live in Valdez!

Warpt, damn shame to see a nice 208 on its side like that. Those are great planes (teehee), hate to see one crashed. Fantastic shots everyone, as always.

When I worked there it was my favorite plane because it had a different paint job from the other Caravans. It was a favorite of my friends that flew it, too.

Thanks, JerseyKat and ShipofFools! It is a beautiful place.

Went out hiking in Keystone Canyon yesterday and wound up bushwacking up the hill to get a good view of the mountains across the Lowe River:

Very little snow out there:

But a lot of ice. You don't even have to steer on most of the road to the trailhead, just go slow enough to stay in the ruts and not spin your tires on the ice!

Well, paint job notwithstanding (although it is a nice looking color), the Caravan is my favorite plane I've ever flown. Not just my favorite Cessna, my favorite plane, beating out a Mooney M20E and a V-tail Bonanza. Those things are amazing. Just built SO solid. I wonder, have you ever once seen an SR22 Cirrus up there? Would anyone even fly something like that up there? Just curious, as I think those planes are silly to own anywhere, but with the amount of GA flying that goes on in AK, I wonder if there aren't a few guys, at least.

Tigre strikes again! Those are some incredible shots you take! You must use a very nice camera (not to discount your skills, of course).
