Nice zen attitude about being eaten. Be interesting to see if you can maintain it if it's ever actually needed, but then I guess letting us know how it worked out would be a problem. I guess that's one of the things about bears that gives folks the willies; bears don't feel any sort of obligation to make sure that the stuff they eat is dead first. I guess to a bear it's rather pointless expending all that extra energy; if the critter you're munching on stops moving long enough for you to eat it, by definition, it's dead enough. If not... make it deader, then keep eating. Very practical, but not especially 'humane'.

I agree that the "bearanoia" issue is big, my wife is one of that crowd and it makes her a very "nervous nelly" when we're out hiking. The reality of the situation is that in the overwhelming number of cases the bear is a lot more interesting in hauling buttocks away from you than towards you.

That said, the exceptions to the rule tend to be rather dramatic and unfortunate.
