You forgot the little detail of the six hour drive from Fairbanks to Manley on a dirt road at best, will only cause some of your fillings to bounce out of your mouth and if the potholes don't rip you vechicle up, you are doing well... On the trip in.

Yep...very good point. Worried about flats all the way in and all the way back.
Still, once we put the canoe in the Tanana it was pretty nice. I have canoed down the Tanana from Fairbanks to Nenana and it was pretty tame most of the way, but just upstream from Manley I saw some pretty impressive whirlpools.

What is with you people?!
Haven't you heard of the benefits of a 4000 sq ft home with heat and power, Direct TV and a big screen?
I go "homeless" once or twice a year when we hunt or camp. It is fun, but not year round, thank you. I guess you Alaska boys are tougher than I thought. I have to drive 30 minutes for a good cup of coffee. You guys are driving 12 hours!!!! You win.
