I am so curious-it's the strangest looking thing. I've seen lots of wolves & lots of coyotes but not any one quite like this.

It's fairly common for dogs and coyotes to cross breed. I'm thinking this is what you have in the picture you are asking about.

I have smacked my share of them in the back of the head to dispatch them with and axe while in the leg hold traps. They seem to squirm more then putting a 22 in the head, but no pelt damage.
