ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A new video initiative is bringing the famed brown bears of Alaska’s Katmai National Park directly to your computer or smartphone.
Without having to go there, you can watch mature bears compete for salmon at Brook Falls and other sites and cubs tumbling over each other as they play. Starting Tuesday, a live Web stream (Brown Bear & Salmon Cam - Brooks Falls - Bears - explore) allows the public to see the brown bears in their natural habitat.

The patience shown by those bears is amazing. The way they can skin a salmon is amazing.

RedJacket isn't amazing.

Default the bears are just amazing

I love watching this web-cam. We were fortunate to experience bear watching a few years ago at Mt. Redoubt Lodge - it was on a boat on a lake rather than the river platforms at Brooks. Its breathtaking to be so close that you can see their claws, and the fishes' eyes, and the speckles of red salmon meat dropping from the bear's mouth as he/she eats the catch.

I'm so happy "they" have put up the web-cam so that more people can see what the bears are all about.

I've been watching for a few days now. I sat last night for over an hour watching them, watching them now too. They are great and I agree, very patient and sometimes quite humerous in their actions. I know I couldn't wait as long as they do to get fresh salmon.
