On a serious note, until you endure at least three winters, you're still in the honeymoon stage with Alaska.

Just my humble opinion.

I like the darkness of the winters, it drives off those that don't have the will to live here....

Then the summers aren't that crowded, except for the passer throughers.....

Been thrown out of some of the finer bars in my youth all over the world, and I don't plan on living anywhere else except to visit outside.

Did I mention that winters are dark, cold and long....

From all the very very negative I've been reading on these posts , I wonder why most of you even stay in Alaska?
I realize most of you want to be serious but some of the uglier type posts I've read make me wonder who's making the meth labs up there?
I'm just going to buy me some land and and spend only summers up there so all the "real" Alaskans can hate me.. Come back south for the winter. Thats the "great life"...But heck, I'll enjoy my summers.. LOL : )

believe it or not, mainlanders who think Hawaii is "paradise" find themselves in the same situation after the honeymoon phase is over............i know this for a fact.and for those who think there is no possible way life couldnt be just wonderful paradise living in Hawaii "just" because of the scenic beauty and the balmy weather, yall got a shock coming to you. and these mainlanders cant afford to leave the islands because they got into financial ruins due to the cost of living, and the cost of moving back to the mainland is too prohibitive, so they end up in tent city on da beach, on welfare.
so for those who are moving somewhere for the weather, or moving from somewhere to escape the weather, that's not enough of a reason.
the place that's going to be your own personal paradise is going to be the place that feeds your soul, that fits your personality, gives you the opportunities to do what you enjoy to do the most. and it may cost alot, but if there is a will, there is a way. there will be sacrifices wherever you go.
some people cant understand how i can stand living in this barren heat (which i dont care for myself), but the saving grace is Texas really does have some of the friendliest people on this earth, and if and when i move, this is one thing i would miss, but friendly people can be found everywhere, if you are friendly
ok...im off my Texas sized soapbox yall!
