It was anti-hunters complaining. Specifically, a petition started by Tim Martell, a Florida resident and self-proclaimed conservationist and a Certified Florida Naturalist.

Outrage over Melissa Bachman Termination by National Geographic Producers

I would pay real money to see a "Bunny Hugger" on Natural Geographic's Ultimate Survival Alaska. They would be dead in a week because they are as completely clueless as Chris McCandless.

Until recently, I was the only person without a gun in a hunting area. I just got an R-22 as a gift, though. I mentioned to a friend of mine that I still didn't have one (which is kind of a little embarrassing, since most people get them when they are about 4 years younger than me...).

My mother is letting me keep it, as long as she is the one that hands it out to me when we go out for fun...

Now, I just have to learn how to use it...

I began hunting with my father at age 8. My father bought me my first 12-gauge when I was 10. As with any tool, the more you practice the better you will get. You should look into taking a gun safety course. Often these courses are free, or at a low cost. Most outdoor gun ranges will also provide instruction, for a fee.

The first rule my father taught me about hunting was, "if you shoot it, you eat it." Do not waste a critters life just or the sake of practicing. You can practice on paper targets. Most importantly, know where your round will go after you hit your target.

Enjoy your new firearm. Be safe and learn a few BASIC safety rules before you even touch the firearm. Two rules to remember: ALL GUNS ARE LOADED and NEVER POINT A GUN AT ANOTHER PERSON.
