Obviously you have never had hotflashes like mine! My first one ever:Standing up in front of a crowded room, on stage to give a speech in full view of the audience. Let me just state that I will never, ever get over the horror of knowing my audience is thinking they are in a wet t-shirt contest while I am totallly destracted and horrified at the meltdown sliding my makeup off my skin, flattening my hair and soaking my clothing and suddenly blurt out "oh my God I think I am having a hotflash!"

The audience roared!

Must have been a married crowd!

I come from a family who perspires when doing physical activity, so I was used to sweating. just bending over gardening would have me dripping. SO, I thought when I get to my time of menopause, it would be "no big deal", I'm used to it. I was, unfortunately, OH SO WRONG!

I had TOTAL MELTDOWNS. I am talking 18 hotflashes in a 24 hour period and my head, face, neck, back and chest were dripping. A glass of wine, a cup of coffee or anything that gave me stress, made them even worse.

I went out with a friend's husband in his boat fishing for a couple of hours one time (when the weather was cool) I had on a t-shirt, sweater, and winter jacket. He watched me peel the jacket and sweater off so many times, he still talks and laughs about it now, and that was 6 years ago.

I put up with those horrid hot flashes for almost two years, trying every over-the-counter meds anyone recommended to me. NOTHING helped.

That was 6 years ago. I finally went on Estrogen and it helps tremendously. I still have hot flashes, but more like "normal" women. I get hot, I might sweat a little, but I don't feel like I have a fire burning inside me and my face doesn't have rivers running down it. The sweat was honestly, literally dripping off my nose. Ok, I know Estrogen has a bad rap, but I can't live anywhere near a normal life without it.

Two months ago, I attempted to go off Estrogen, just to see what would happen. Wham! I was back into those very same hellish flashes, all day, all night. I couldn't stand it and called the doc for another prescription. Within two days of taking it again, I was feeling 1000% better.

Estrogen isn't for everyone, but it sure is a lifesaver for me.

Well glad you found something that worked well for you.

In my case, my last Lupron shot was about two years ago in January, so most of me is back to being a guy!

The hot flashes have faded, so I am very happy and glad I don't have them now!

Still not totally back to "Normal", but don't really know what that is anymore! LOL
