Men in Trees never made it to the east coast. Is something available on dvd?

Probably so. But it wasn't the greatest show out there. It had it's moments but it really didn't represent Alaska well. Xa'at and I need to write the real story....

You can see it on the net. Forgot what the station is, ABC?
Anyway, I tried to watch one. It was okay.

My gran watches it. When she was visiting she had it on and my family watched a bit. We decided that it was very unrepresentative of the real Alaska and made her watch it alone.
We did have an interesting game trying to figure out where in Alaska it was filmed... until Wikipedia revealed that it was filmed in BC.

What's up with that? Is it too difficult to find real Alaskan looking places in Alaska?

I think the logistics of filming in Alaska- like the added cost of flying everything in (or trying to transport it up the Alcan) makes BC look pretty attractive to film companies. A lot of places in BC look very similar to Alaska, so most people won't notice.

By the by, for an example of how to do a local color comedy right, everyone should watch "Corner Gas". It's hilarious.
