I did a search and only came up with a couple old threads and they didn't say much about the place. Does anyone here know anything about it? The type of area? How many people live there? I have been to the Island, but it was on the North East side.

What is Passamaquati? I googled it and came up with Passamaquoddy Tribe which is on the East Coast of the US.

Here's the wikipedia article: Naukati Bay, Alaska - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It sound like it's an old logging camp with a hundred or so people living there.

Not any more. They were charging a small fee to help pay for setting the races up but it was on forest service land so the feds made them stop. Too bad, they were a blast and gave the folks in Naukati - and the rest of us something fun to look forward to every year.
Naukati would be a hard place to live, pretty rough & tumble folks out there but it's stunningly beautiful.
