I sympathize; I came up here 5 years ago on a seasonal Forest Service gig and never left; now I work full time with another part-time job in law enforcement.
And I love it, that is true, though there were some hard times my first couple years...and it still ain't a bowl of cherries ALL the time! Guess the benefits outweigh my desire to ever be within driving range of a chain store again!
I'm sure someone else said this somehwere along the line, but seasonal jobs are a definite possibility with the Forest Service...either Tongass NF (southeast AK where I live) or Chugach NF in south-central AK. The website to look and to apply for these jobs is:
