Need info on the bizarrely fascinating Barrow! (hotels, live)

Hi everyone. I am new here. I am probably going to take a year or two off from work to travel. I have recently developed this bizarre fascination of Barrow and am thinking of spending three months there (June - August) to just relax, write, explore and experience the midnight sun. Does anyone know of a good source for information on Barrow? I defnitely need info on hotels or possibly a short-term rental. Are there any sites on the web that may help?

Is it true it snows 12 months per year there? I looked up the weather for the area on weather.com, and although the highs (on average) are mid-40s in summer, the lows appear low enough for snow. Is that that case? Wow - it may be a freezing summer for me. Wait, San Francisco summers probably aren't that much warmer

If you really want to know about Barrow, ask someone who lives there, and not some tourist that was only there for 2 or 3 days.

Check out their water source. Told by a friend who lived there it is very bad. Otherwise I cannot offer any info.
