absolutely, and we all love it!
They actually took it up a notch and stock better items, with close to walmart prices.

It's not the same store. A&P in Juneau and Haines is locally owned- it stands for Alaskan & Proud.

and they have probably the best food prices in Juneau. So far, walmart hasn't impressed anyone. I guess walmart needs to beat up on their china suppliers a bit more.............

Hmmm... Well I wouldn't know- it wasn't open when I left in July. Despite the fact that I'm poor as a barn swallow (if barn swallows are poor) I still might not shop at Wal-Mart. I'd like to think my soul commands a higher price than that...

Yea that's the thing. Wal*Mart hasn't lived up to the hype. They're a disappointment and it's great for me to see people still shopping at Freds, A&P, etc. The Starbucks at Freds leaves alot to be desired. And I think that's great too because I love Heritage Coffee. Sometimes big box isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sometimes local is better.

Heritage Coffee is my daily addiction. And yes, locally owned is better.

Really? Well, winter turnover has happened so there are new faces there. Also the snowbirds are starting to show up looking for work (the young skiers and snowboarders, much more fun to be around than the summer tourons ).
Oh, BTW, got 4 inches of snow Monday, right on time.
