Looking to move to kenai peninsula! Need some thoughts about it? (farmer, farmer)

Yeah, the access issue isn't normally like this on the road system. In this case, there's an existing road, but no actual platted easement through certain properties.

There's a store up in Soldotna that does solar and wind stuff. I don't know who it is exactly, but I've talked to a couple guys who've bought from there and seem satisfied. Still, though, there are easier properties than the one you're looking at. If you're worried about a water source, most place around here seem to have a water table of 15' or less (sometimes as little as 4'), so wells are easy enough. I wouldn't worry about needing the river for fishing--nobody would really fish the Chakok up that far, and you're not allowed to salmon or steelhead fish upriver from where the North and South Forks of the Anchor River meet (which is right in town). If you plan to fish in streams around here, it's catch and release unless you're in the lower couple of miles of the Anchor River.

Well, Anchor Point does, but only in the lower portion of the river. You'll find similar rules just about anywhere on the road system. Certain areas of certain rivers are closed for portions of the year or catch and release at other parts of the year. If you want to live in Alaska on the road system, you'll just need to learn the local rules. Unless you're willing to invest hundreds of thousands on Kenai River frontage property, you won't find a place where you can fish from your property (and keep it and eat it). Of course, there are such places on the peninsula, but they are expensive.

When you put it in that perspective you are so correct. We have maybe 10 or 12 towns to fish from.

the only way that will work on the Kenai peninsula is if your work was in a place like Seldovia or Kodiak and still trying to be remote. Otherwise pretty much there is hunting and fishing within 2-3 hrs of about anyplace on the road system.

Yeah this state is full of dairy farms,hog,chicken and whatever else you can think of.
Maybe a little bit in the valley. Kenai Peninsula not so much. Now chicken eggs are worth growing but still pretty pricey.
