This may be a stupid question, but please bear with me. It has been almost 10 years since I've last been up, so alot has changed. I was wondering: When flying via bush plane, not by airline, is a standard security screening required? I gave up flying b/c of the invasive security measures at the airports down in the lower 48, so I'm hoping I can avoid that if possible.

Say what? I've been flying the past 10 years and don't find the security procedures invasive at all. Maybe something has changed since you last flew. As for most of the smaller bush operations security measures are limited.

No, you don't have to go through TSA or anything for the small planes.

Thank you both. My anxiety shouldn't be an issue, like it is with the airlines then

Sounds like you figured out a way around the body cavity search.

Up here, you don't have to go through TSA for any plane smaller than 36 people, and possibly even some larger planes will waive that. If people can't see it, they don't know you if you're carrying it

If you are not doing something you should not do you should have no worries no matter where you are.

Oh, and the Alaska State Troopers or local police do random luggage and passenger checks even in bush communities. Many air taxi services also do random baggage searches looking for contraband.

That's not it. At.all.

I'm never "doing anything," but I sometimes get annoyed at the TSA in the airports, and it's easy for me to understand how those with anxiety issues could find the whole ordeal excruciating.
