I have the opportunity to lead a Park Service field crew for the month of July. We will be outside nearly the entire time. I am coming from the lower 48. How bad will the mosquitoes be?

Probably quite bad. You'll want to be fully covered - thick or tight weave pants, longsleeve shirt with a vest or another longsleeve over top. Plus a mosquito headnet. Plus at least 25% deet bug spray for your hands and going to the bathroom... It may not be that bad, but you'll want to be prepared for it.

You won't be telling them to get away, you'll be telling them to put you down!

I of course joke. Wear long sleeves and deet. I recommend 40% or spend some time around a fire and get nice and smokey smelling.

Bug spray alone does not work sometimes. It's good to have some of the netting Heathen has referred to. There also are mosquito body suits one can wear. If you travel to the Arctic Circle you better have a lot more than bug spray
