Aloha from Hawaii! Alaska airlines has insane deals now from Hawaii to Alaska. I am a single mother with a 7 year old girl. We were looking at either Anchorage or Juneau for the first week of October. We are very outdoorsy people and looking for hikes, boat tours, sea plane or child friendly attractions. We live in Honolulu so I'd like to see more of the small fishing villages instead of all the city attractions. I want to see some city attractions I just don't want to spend the entire time in the city. I need suggestions on deals for attractions in October and how far driving times are from Anchorage or Juneau to parks and wildlife. Mahalo for any suggestions!

Juneau is not accessible by road.

Anchorage, I believe, has Seward nearby, and I think that has child-friendly attractions (last time I checked). Anchorage is a mid-sized city with a few small suburbs within an hour drive of it.

A lot of the sea plane and boat tours will be over by then, and the weather is so unpredictable that time of year.

Juneau has a great zipline, but I'm not sure how late into the fall it operates. There's not a lot of road there, and it doesn't take long at all to drive to hiking trails. IDK, perhaps look into the Alaska Marine Highway if you want to get a look smaller villages. Take the ferry over to Petersburg, maybe.

October is early winter. All the of the summer visitor activities are over, but the winter activities haven't started yet. So it can be an awkward time to visit.
Here's some stuff that will be available from Anchorage:
Home - Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center
Water Taxi Whittier
http://www.alaskasealife.org/
Alaska Tram Rides | Aerial Tram | Alyeska Resort

If you fly into Juneau, you could use the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system to explore Southeast Alaska.
