Hello I am moving to Wrangell and I am looking for a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment or house to rent that is close to town,walking distance preferably. Not really anything on line. If anyone could help with this that would be amazing.

Most rentals in rural Alaska happen by word of mouth or postings on the bulletin board at the store.

You should have thought about this before deciding to move to a town of less than 2400 people. Few and far between are the rentals. Call The Wrangell Sentinel, or the Petersburg Pilots newspapers and ask for their classifieds-then call those people.

The previous poster is correct, in SE Alaska almost all rentals are word of mouth or postings on community &/or grocery store bulletin boards. However, the two websites below do offer some info on various rental properties. Not listed are Randy and Carol Churchill who have apartments (Churchill Properties) in town and by the boat harbor. Contact # is 907-874-3954.
Also, I might mention that pretty much everything is walking distance in Wrangell - airport, hospital, grocery and retail businesses, museum, boat harbors (we have three and two of them are within 1 mile of town). Good luck
