Hi guys,
My husband and I ran a small construction business in WA. When we started our business we had the shock of our lives when looking into insurance rates (3 times higher than the East Coast ). I found out that it was because of the lawsuit craze that spread up the entire west coast (of the lower 48) which in turned caused all of the business insurance rates, workman's comp and liability insurance to go through the roof . My question is has this affected Alaska? I have looked into obtaining a business license through Mat-Su websites but haven't been able to find any info on business rates. If anyone has any info on this matter it would be much appreciated. Just so we can be better prepared financially. Thanks Again.

I think this page should give you a great start.

Business Home Page, State of Alaska

State and lots of local governments in Alaska are onliine and have quite a large amount of resources available to those that can spend the time researching the information they desire.

Your probably going to need to contact an insurer directly for rate information. It varies quite a bit between occupational titles and locations.
