I don't think it does. Just look at the small and very old spruce trees on one place, and not the other. Even ambient temperatures and weather are different between the two. The wildlife is also different. The similarities are a sort of emotional or imaginary thing, like seeing similarities between two different persons we have known

Well, no one part of Alaska is typical of "Alaska", either. Some parts you could be forgiven in thinking you were in the Rocky Mountains. A Southeast temperate rainforest has only political boundaries and some animal species in common with the Gates of the Arctic area IMO.

I didn't get from the OP that we were just talking about visual resemblances. My comparing the UP of Michigan to Alaska was as much about the people as the scenery. Heck, you can drive long stretches in the UP as well as in Southeast Utah, and central Nevada and see less people or signs of habitation (other than the highway and fences) than in many, many parts of rural Alaska - anywhere really, on the paved highway system, except perhaps Tok to Gakona.

Sorry, but those two places didn't look very similar to me, other than both having mountain ranges at each side. The weather in each are completely different, and so the hours of daylight and darkness, plus humidity and temperatures. The Alaska's one is very rugged and isolated, has spruce trees, and lacks trails down the bottom, or and even a building like the one in Nevada. Now, I would probably enjoy staying in that Nevada building for a couple of weeks during the summer

Go to this website and look at the photos of the place in Nevada we are talking about, then tell me if it looks similar to the one in Alaska:

I see a few people in here who've never been to Alaska yapping about what part of the -48 most reminds them of Alaska.

Okay, don't post a link. Just tell me what to look for. Otherwise I have no idea what your point is.

I don't think it does either, but I'm just giving him points for messing with my brain by finding the single most lush green place in all of Nevada, and comparing it with what might be one of the driest, most deserty looking places in Alaska, at least that I have ever seen a picture of.

As far as spruce trees go, certain types of spruce trees can and do grow in Northern Nevada. So you can't really differentiate Alaska and Nevada by the presence of spruce trees. Though you might be able to do it by the quantity and type of spruce trees.
