When you look at places like Seattle, LA or Toronto is cities in Alaska more conservative compared to them?

Do people in Alaska listen to more country music? And drive jeeps or pickup trucks? And people in Alaska more likely to go to church?

Also how are the people Alaska like? Is it true people in Alaska are more laid back?

Much as I feel trying to pigeonhole an entire state population under one label is stupid, politically, AK is conservative. The state has voted solidly red for I don't know how long...maybe always since such comparisons began. Lots of Republican elected officials catering/kowtowing to big resource extraction industries such as oil and gas, mining, lumber. More people here may live a more laid back slower-paced lifestyle but that doesn't always mean they're laid back in personality. I'd say Alaskans are more live and let live in terms of religious and/or social beliefs however.

Alaska voters sold themselves out to the PFD long ago and will vote for anyone who promises not to mess with "the check." Dumleavy won the governorship with campaign signs to that effect.

Country music? Not necessarily. Country, Rock, and everything else in between.

Automobiles: There re a lot of trucks in Alaska, but mostly because trucks are utility vehicles one can use to transport appliances, construction materials, or even tow a trailer. There are Jeeps, cars of all kinds and brands, SUV's, and so on.

Church goers: Average. We have church haters, church goers, and everything in between.

The term, "live and let live" is appropriate for the average Alaskan. The PDF check is a necessity for a lot of people these days because of the very high cost of living in Alaska. For example, a PDF check of perhaps $2,000 can be used to fill the heating fuel 500-gallon tank twice each winter, but that is about it.

Every Alaska politician running for office talks about protecting the PDF, and state revenue from oil and mining.

Of course they do; they wouldn't make it past the primaries if they didn't give it lip service. But it's more nuanced than that. During the months prior to the 2018 election, Dumleavy ran primarly on paying Alaskans back for those years when the check was capped and by promising a $6,700 check if he was elected.

Campaigners running for office claiming they'll preserve the PFD is sort of like beauty queen hopefuls claiming they want world peace. An obligatory right of passage. The real mystery IMHO is why voters keep believing what they all spout while trying to get themselves elected.
