Verizon?... LMAO, not in King Salmon, with less than 1000 full time residents in the whole area? I don't think so.

Cell coverage? Um the telephone company there allows you to roam (most carriers) when I checked it was with the Bristol Bay Telephone Cooperative Inc web link... (the only game in town) $24.99 for 500 minutes and 0.20 after that. they used to have a link for "roaming" but their website has changed and I don't see it anymore... it was rake you over the coals high if I remember $35 and then 0.75 a minute (the $35 covered nothing but letting you roam, you payed 0.75 minute). I'm sure the "911" feature works because that is federal, but you are in the middle of nowhere.

They own the towers, so they let no one roam for free... get a two-way radio and call the game warden if you get stuck, probably work better anyway.

Satellite phones work... outside, but are cost prohibitive... $1000 for the phone, but the plan it like $30 for unlimited use.

I am flying in to King Salmon in July 2010 for the night before flying out to Brooks Camp. What lodging is available in King Salmon?

Now, it's been 10 years since I lived there but I remember the King Ko Inn. I never stayed there but it's a place to look into.

Ask them about places in Naknek... if they have nothing avail.

July is very much "mid" season and things are going full bore. Just a matter of a few weeks or even days it slows quickly. You may have trouble finding a place because everything is booked waaaayyyy in advance. Most people book next year when they arrive.

My son-in-law just got back from his lodge in King Salmon. I'll have him put in a note in when he is here next. He was just here last night for dinner, but we didn't think about the computer.
