From a call from Juneau Police Department, we have had a breakout of the Norwalk Virus (Norovirus) that has hit the downtown area. There were 30 people in the emergency room from the Virus yesterday (6/17).
Rumor had it there was a ship in Skagway yesterday, and we hauled some of their passengers. We were busy with lysol. The day before that our sister ship had to be cleaned three times because of people with the flu vomiting.
After some of the behavior that I have witnessed in the buffet lines on board ship, it doesn't surprise me at all that virus breed quickly. Fortunately I've never been sick on a cruise.
As for tourists, and cruise ships, they are good for our economy, keep most things like this to themselves, and it might just be a conspiracy that the folks are getting sick....ever think that the hospitals might be trying to improve their bottom line, get a piece of the pie!
the hospital delivers my paycheck...but i don't want any of that pie.
ugh, cruise ship buffets are nasty and not just the food....some of the guests are just plain unsightly. i mean, i know it's your vacay but comb your hair and put on clean pants for cryin out loud!
