I tried to drive out to my job site today. The major roads are closed due to wildfires. So there I was up on some Forest Service gravel road with ashes raining down all around me, no guard rail and there was a steep drop off, big rocks all over the road, and then more started falling down. I got the hell out of there, came home and called work and opened a bottle of red.

Did you have some lightning storms down your way? Another RV explode out in the woods?
I just talked to Sweden and the Kenai Mountains were covered in fresh snow this morning. Man I wish I was home to see that.

Damn it--I miss the first snow. And someone said that freeze up was starting up on the slope. Freeze up is my favorite time of year...well, maybe not...I can't decide between that and when the first snow comes out of the Alaska Range and you see it coming right at you.

We haven't had lightening for awhile but Oregon is on fire. The latest major one was man-made, not far from here.

I honestly cannot wait for the first snowfall here, Met...my camera and I. And happy to hear you played it safe and didn't risk life and limb today!

Damn ya. There is nothing in the world like the first snowfall in the Susitna Valley; you'll see and feel it coming days before it hits. It damn near breaks my heart that I won't see it this year.

I'll send photos...if you like, and send you a print if any strike your fancy.
