Give NYC a try sometime. You'd like all the roads there.

I'm getting a bit tired of your silly little vendetta against me because I told you to conserve resources a bit and that roads won't be your savior. And regarding the link you posted to a builder, it sounds to me like he wants to build his own cabin, not have it built for him. At least that's what the original post makes it sound like. He didn't want to peel his own logs though for some reason.
LOL, funny. You snapped before I did. Posted the Friesen site so he can ask how he gets his cabins out to remote sites.

Thank you guys.

I want milled logs because I like dovetail square logs cabins. I think you can find good examples in Sitka because it is typical of russian cabins. I know how to build my own cabin but I dont want a trapper rustic cabin. I need some geometric lines. I am looking at a very small cabin (120 sq ft ... maybe less). I dont need to use septic tanks. There are many ecological ways to do that nowadays. You know that. I think transportation is the only problem. I think I will conform to a land with roads.

In fact, one can make square logs with with dovetail knotches with a especial piece and a saw machine but I dont think it is a good idea for me to go into that with my experience. Mostly, because I dont have that experience. Spruce wood is very easy to cut and work with.

I will need help so I think someone with log cabin experience will come handy.

Thank you everybody.

Plenty of remote properties with road access are for sale in Alaska. Best prices are probably in the interior.

Okay, I see now. You want square logs not round ones. That style was pretty common in some of the lower 48 as well. That makes a bit more sense than buying plain old peeled round logs. The old original cabins, they squared the logs up by hand with an axe, preferably a broad axe but any good axe would do it. It's pretty time consuming work squaring off logs by hand so I guess I understand wanting to buy them already cut. Making perfect dovetail notches takes some practice.

The state DNR has a little bit of land for sale relatively cheap with road access (most of what they have is not road accessible though), you may want to check it out and see if it's what you're after. The Interior will be the cheapest as far as land costs, though the closer to Fairbanks the more expensive it'll get, and anything in the Fairbanks North Star Borough will have relatively high property taxes (considering the unorganized borough has none...).
