Who me? Who? Me?

I've done the Alcan in February in a front wheel drive Ford Focus one year, we had no problems. It even had summer tires on it!

Yes, a two-wheel drive Ford Excursion will make the drive quite easily. The roads are kept plowed and well-traveled, and as long as you slow down according to the conditions of the road, you should not have any problems. A four-wheel drive might be nice, but it is not necessary.

Make sure you have either studded tires or all terrain tires.

How much experience do you have driving in winter conditions and on icy roads? Driver experience in those conditions is usually the limiting factor, rather than equipment. While a two wheel drive truck pulling a trailer is hardly the optimal setup for such a trip, in the hands of an experienced winter driver it is easily doable. But if this is your first time on ice you may want to seek out some instruction first, particularly if your family will be in the vehicle with you. Also, given your particular setup, I would advise to never attempt to leave plowed pavement and avoid snow drifts at all costs.

2wd will make it depending on your skill level driving in snow and ice (ice being the biggie). If you are going to live in AK it would be worth buying a 4x4 (my opinion).

I am driving up in late Jan or early Feb. I have a 4x4 F250 and will be towing a trailer with 4-wheelers. I can't wait to get back again.

Good luck with the trip.
