Alaskan Exposure

Is the bullet-ridden road sign the norm in Alaska or is this
an exaggeration? Note: I hope this does not spark another
boring and endless liberal vs conservative, gun control *** ***
thread.

I've seen a few. Not only in Alaska, but S.Dakota, N.Dakota, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas, N.Mexico, Idaho, Utah, Washington, Oklahoma...and I'm sure I am missing another state or two. People get bored, I suppose.

Question - as someone from Jersey -

WHY are there bullet holes in the street signs?

Seriously, I'm curious.

I have lived in Colorado (Boulder) and in Mississippi, and am now a long-time resident of Silicon Valley, California. This would be unusual in these places. I don't know how it is in nearby Oakland which has a high crime rate. I'll keep an eye out the next time I drive through.

I've seen signs with bullet holes here in NC, and plenty of bashed in mail boxes too. The mail boxes remind me of home in PA when people would get bored on weekends....
