I had a couple interviews over the phone before we left Michigan. Didn't work out due to them wanting someone sooner than when I would be there, but it does show that employers will do it that way.

We interviewed several people on the phone in the past week, but only after we had gotten no responses on AlaskaJobsWanted.com for almost 6 weeks.

I don't know about this but from what I have been told by a couple of slope workers is they want people that have experience in Alaska, like I said this is just what I heard. And also lots of jobs there are union and you can't be union until you have lived in AK for 12 months. My husband has lots of experience doing stuff that should land him a job on the slope pretty easy but it takes more than experience from what I have seen to get a job up there, a couple of people have pretty it well by saying its not WHAT you know its WHO you know, unless you have degree in something in a position they need filled. So good luck but you may need to start thinking more local before you worry about the slope. Also just because you have an Alaskan address some companies actually check your drivers license to see if you LIVED here for a while.
