Freezengirl - I wish you the best - you certainly have a great attitude and it sounds like you lucked out with these 2 DRs.

Are these Drs at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN? That's my home town and I worked there for a couple years (yes, I did brain surgery -no).

I'm surprised you have such cold well water - we just had several days of above 90F temps.

Again - I wish you the best.

I knew I had to come back to Minnesota for a longish, undetermined length of stay to take care of things here, but it turns out my stay will be much longer then anticipated. I stopped at the Doctors for some normal lab work four days before I left Alaska and mentioned this lump on the side of my hand...told me to get in to see a surgen asap. Turns out I have a very rare and very malignant type of cancer. Because there is always a silver lining in every dark cloud, two of the top specialists in the country for this type of cancer are based in MN. I start six weeks of aggressive radiation treatment in the next few days, a month off for tissue healing, surgery and then at some undetermined point post-surgery, chemo treatments. :shocked

It sure has put a crimp in my summer plans, on the other hand (no pun intended! ) it is only one summer out of a lifetime, hopefully a lengthy lifetime yet to go.

Right now I have Fat Freddie and little Jilly Bean (my daughters puppy) sitting by my feet. I can look out the window and see the chipmunks partying hardy at the newly filled bird feeder. The main garden is buzzing with loads of bees and butterflies flitting around the peonies and iris, and I am pleasantly tired from a lovely, impromtu over-nite visit with one of my sisters. There is a big pot of wild-rice, chicken and mushroom soup simmering in the crockpot to combat the freezing wind that chased all the warmth away. However long or short my live may turn out to be-it is always sweet. My friends and family across this great country and the memories I cherish of all of it keep me company and keep me grounded.
I wish you the best. Stay positive, you'll be fine I also am not good at these things and what to say; but be assured I'll be praying for you.
